MaxFacts: Do you Know your "V's"

MaxSez: Aviation has its own language. Ya gotta learn the “Jargon”!
Here’s a sample:
“V1” =. Takeoff Decision Speed. (Think abort)
“V2” =. Takeoff Safety Speed. (Think Rotate (Vt)
“Vref” =. Reference Speed for Final Approach (Think 1.3 x "Vso)
"Vso=. Stall Speed in Landing Configuration (Think Oh Sh…!)

All halfway decent pilots should have these memorized, as they are critical to safe flight.

Never Exceed speed,

Max operating speed

I though V2 meant you have to be 10kts over rotation at 35 feet or below or something is wrong

Vy=best climb over a distance
Vx=best climb in relation to time
Vne=never exceed
Vno=Maximum Structural Cruise Speed
Vfe=flaps extended speed
Va=maneuvering speed

@Pilotmaster2129… You’ve been listening to those “Duty Experts” on the main page again. As a Student Pilot you should know better. You need to sit down and hsve a look talk with your CFI or cram the FAA Pilots Handbook. You have time. Study & use it wisely. Max
(10k over may be a 150’s envelope, every craft is different! Check the POH.)

Well, I’ve just started lessons and am hardly on ground school, I was told this by a Delta A319 Captain that had over 10,000 hours of flight time, and that was a little harsh. I do have a CFI but that is a little advanced for my level of flight. I only have about 12 hours of time and we are just starting ground school. I get your point but this was a little harsh.

@Brandon_Sandstrom… MaxSez: Real Naval Aviator Fighter Pilots know the truth it’s not “Speed” it “Energy”. Ask your CFI… LOL Regards.

Pull up! Terrain! ;)

Ironically, pulling up when you’re stalling isn’t the best idea. 😜

V2 and Vr isn’t the same thing, Vr is rotation speed and V2 is the lowest speed the aircraft can climb with one engine inoperative :)
