MaxFact: The End Of FAA FLIP's as we know them!

All I say is i hope they implement these changes AFTER I’m long gone from aviation. I’d hate to see all the iarcraft change into sleek modern goohaa and the FAA charts just changing.

FAA logic: Let’s make everything digital and more prone to corruption/hacking/electrical failure.

Yeah what happens when your ipad dies?

If they get rid of the printed versions that would be a tragedy waiting to happen. I fly with fore flight which is great. But flight plan with the printed version of sectionals and always have the up to date in the flight bag. Computers aren’t going to do 💩 If the battery runs out.

yea, its easy to say we need to keep paper, but here is a question(GA enthusiasts aside because all you need is your area sectional/tac and region ifr charts at the most), any idea how much Jepp Charts weigh for the whole country? hmm… thought so.

as far as batt issues and ipad dying. I cant say it will never happen, but in my 4 years of using Foreflight this has never been an issue.

Famous last words

been flying(19years now) before gps and foreflight ever existed, and dont think these would be my famous last words.

But hey, when you get around your IFR training and you are under the hood, go missed on your initail app, go to your alternate airport only to find out weather is below minumiuns and now while you are in clouds going missed ti your hold, reaching back to get your massive JEPP chart flipping through pages while flying your next closest airport. Now that you found it, you gotta get the atis/awos of that airport. Guess what? thats below mins. You still on your hold looking for the next airport from your 430. Again checking atis/awos for that airport. Finally and airport you can land in. Now you rip those pages out, now you flying with a chart in your hand plugging in your new airport.

Good luck! :) you will need it

Well I’d still like that option in case all else fails ;)

It’s not just about the battery dying. Anything can happen. The whole thing could die. Although the same can happen to the plane systems too.

But I’d hate to be the guy admitting over the air I need vectors because my iPad died. 😂

if all else fails you will need an open field not paper charts mate.

😂 you know what I ment

i hate to use the word never, so i wont say that. But i will say your ipad is has a power source in the cockpit. even if that fails i carry my own. i have had foreflight runnin the whole time in flying GA for over 5 hrs yest and i was down to 82%. I cant say the same with IF :P

Now if you are talking or a software issue then i get that. but when you weigh out your options(cost esp. charts are expensive.) and where safety is concerned, things like foreflight minimize a pilot load of work.

i know ;) kinda

lol don’t get me wrong I love fore flight it’s an amazing tool but I’d still like to be proficient in flight planning off the printed chart instead of relying on ForeFlight or any other to do it for me. The likely hood of things going ary isn’t much but in the aviation world redundancy and backups are key. Have a good day sir. See you in the sky’s
