Mad Max Sends;; Took the time to survey the Playground and Advanced traffic loading this AM. Amazing, 90% of the aircraft aloft had NO Flight Plans Filed and where still receiving ATC Services! In my world everybody files a flight plan just to get a Strip if there flying within the modern ATC automated system. Even the GA folk file just to go VFR or T&G at there local tie down field so the traffic cops in the Centers don’t get blind sided. Under the circumstances let me suggest that ATC Clean up this IF anomaly and refuse service to any aircraft entering “Advanced” controlled airspace w/o a Flight Plan on file. We all win, the Fleglings learn Flight Filing/Chart work/Nav and the “Seasoned” Aviators fly by example and good airmanship. No Tickee, No Shirtee as my old MommaSon use to say! No Flight Plan, NO ATC SERVICE!!
@Narroc_Wim… Max Sez. I file every flight as a matter of record in the real world. I do the same on IF. GA guys are Lazy by nature and at there home field they just lite the fire and fly the pattern unfiled cause the can. They form bad habits that way. They then do a cross country, fail to file and get busted with an ATC incident report for incursion etc. Best practices “Always File”. Make it part of every pre-flight routine! It’s called “Airmanship”. See the FAR!
@HV9690… Max Sez… Fly by the rules or don’t fly, particularly if you fly a Trash hauler. The FAR is very clear. All Commercial flight are IMC & must File!
Complaints, what else is new. Some of our members still carry a security blanket into the cockpit and love to whine on the Forum! I just burp them and give’m a peanut!
I understand that ATC wants to see a flight plan, but when flying VFR or doing pattern work I don’t think it’s necessary. However, I do think it’s necessary to (asap) state your intentions. When I fly, if I get in the air before I have a destination filed. I always contact Approach or Center and let ATC know I’m VFR. Then once I decide a destination, I call up ATC again and ask for flight following to said destination. I really think the best remedy for the problem is more Pilot to ATC commands in the list of many…
@Sturmovik…MaxSez: Your right stormy no FltPln in the real world for VA but to make the IF ATC system work you must input FP data so the system recognizes your destination for lots of reasons. Don’t be a purest on this one. Next thing you no you’ll be required to file a Special VFR. FltPlan if you enter or pass thru an ADIZ. (a new required FltPlan). FAA has a request for comment floating requiring every flight no matter type file. It’s based on a TSA request. Get used to it, just file. No big deal.
