With the A320neo and A321neo in development, This would benefit a lot since those aircraft have the mask as an option. Instead of A350 and A339 (for ex)
The problem:
With the A320neo family nearing, some liveries IRL have a mask and some don’t. While being the same livery. This causes the issue to have some liveries come with/without a mask, which could upset some.
Could have unnecessary feature requests by faking a mask or no mask request to the same livery, when it would be just chosen by the staff.
The solution I propose:
An option to show/hide the mask liveries IRL that have/don’t have the mask
The registration would also change once changing the option since its more realistic.
Here is a concept I made:
This is the A320-200, the neo has not been added at the time of this post.
Maybe just make it dependent on the registration the plane has. If it has a mask IRL, then it has a mask in game and the opposite. If someone is upset with the (lack of) Mask, then they honestly have deeper issues.
Say SE-DMN has a Mask, while SE-DKU has not, and SE-DMN is the registration used on the aircraft, then the SAS livery will have a mask.
What if it was just another livery option. It would save the need of another UI element on the screen. It’s also such a small difference on a livery, that I personally don’t see concern if only one is selected.
It will almost double the storage space needed, and this is going to be crucial as the A320/21neo has a lot of operators, therefore a lot of liveries to be added
You would need two versions of the livery regardless, since it’s currently not possible to add different textures separately to a livery e.g. registration, mask, ect. Also you need to remember that on mobile device there isn’t much space on some screen sizes. So we don’t want to clutter the screen.
I’m curious to how many liveries there are with the variation. Maybe just find the most common variation in the fleet like if the majority of the fleet have the mask or not and go with that. You could also choose the newest variant, which is probably the ones with the mask
I wish we had the ability to consent to downloading live player skins. Have them show up as a generic if you yourself dont consent to downloading it. Would make everything so much better, that’s how every other flight sim works with user skins, if it’s a problem with developer made skins then why don’t we have that consent.
I’ve actually had the same thought for several months now. There is over a 1000 liveries in Infinite Flight. There is no reason for them to be all downloaded unless you want to see them
