Hard times create strong men, strong men create good times, good times create weak men, and weak men create hard times.

– Michael Hopf

There is nothing more analogous to Malaysia Airlines than that famous quote by Michael Hopf, and while it’d be ignorant to deny that Malaysia Airlines is in a bad position, we can only celebrate on their brighter days from bygone times, and build on the success they once celebrated.

While we hope that Malaysia Airlines returns to the heights they once soared at, this Simulator allows us to attempt to bring them higher than they’ve ever been before. That said, join us, as we aim to create choices, choices that makes you wonder what could have been, and see for yourself that your choices will make a change.

No longer bounded by borders, Malaysia Airlines Virtual wishes to take you to places you’ve never seen before, as you step outside your comfort zone, and let us be a part of your journey, as you explore the wider world with us.

I promise there’s more than meets the eye.

President & Director of External Affairs
Malaysia Airlines Virtual

Hello, and welcome to MHVA!

Thank you for taking the time to check out the Malaysia Airlines Virtual official thread. When I first joined the community in 2018, it has always been my dream to start up a virtual airline of my own. Shortly after joining the community, I originally started up a virtual organization named “Infinite Flight Alliance”, but however, due to real-life priorities, I, unfortunately, was not able to complete the whole approval process, and eventually dropped the idea.

Fast forward 2 years later, COVID-19 struck, and I found myself back in the community, and with some time on my hands due to the situation then, I decided to continue work on “Infinite Flight Alliance”, but shortly after, I realised that the previous MHVA had shut and I “ditched” Infinite Flight Alliance and decided to form a brand new Malaysia Airlines Virtual instead.

It was not easy single-handedly making a crew centre, website, Slack workspace and VA thread, and there were times that I wanted to give up, but I didn’t as I did not want to see all the effort I had already put in go to waste. Finally, on June 24 2020, Malaysia Airlines Virtual officially became an IFVARB approved VA. Fast forward 1.5 years to December 2021, I passed the President role to @LordWizrak, who was the Vice President of Malaysia Airlines Virtual as I was busy with real-life commitments.

I believe that Malaysia Airlines Virtual, since its founding has been constantly improving thanks to the feedback of our members. As such, I welcome you to join Malaysia Airlines Virtual and experience for yourself the Malaysian hospitality.

Founder & Non-Executive President,
Malaysia Airlines Virtual

If you fail to pass the first time around, you will be given a 1 week cooldown before you may take your test again. Failing that twice would lead to a month-long cooldown, and failing the third time will lead to the termination of your application.

If you meet all requirements and have applied to MHVA, we thank you for your support, and look forward to having you on board!

History of Malaysia Airlines

Formed after the splitting of Malaysia-Singapore Airlines, Malaysia Airlines was the true flag of Malaysia. More than just a flag carrier, the airline was its way of inviting the world to Malaysia, with non-stop flights to the largest, most prestigious destinations in the world.

From its formation in 1972, Malaysia Airlines was determined to develop its fleet from a fleet of Boeing 707 and Boeing 737, allowing a rapid and aggressive expansion, both in the regional market and the long-haul market.

The arrival of their Douglas DC-10-30 meant that there was the ability to reach destinations far away such as Amsterdam, Paris and Frankfurt, as well as a period of rapid expansion between 1980 and 1990, where Malaysia Airlines explored some other more unique and exotic destinations such as Honolulu, Buenos Aires and Mexico City, then being the only Asian airline to fly to South America.

1990 arrived, and with it brought the arrival of modern jets. The Boeing 737-400, Boeing 747-400, Boeing 777-200ER and Airbus A330-300 were integral to the Malaysia Airlines fleet, were the signs of an even more aggressive and rapid expansion, with long haul destinations with a smaller market such as Vienna, Zagreb, Zurich and Madrid being experimented with. While some succeeded, others failed, an unfortunate precedent as the airline continued into the Millennium.

Following the new millennium, Malaysia Airlines struggled as a result of the Asian Financial Crisis, a trend we see to this day. Consolidation and efforts to minimise losses ended with the retirement of a large part of their fleet, as well as a shift to a smaller, more sustainable business model.

Malaysia Airlines Virtual’s staff are selected through a thorough and rigorous process, with only the most dedicated pilots invited to serve as a member of staff at Malaysia Airlines Virtual.

Malaysia Airlines Virtual aims to bring the best of all eras in the history of Malaysia Airlines, as well as an exclusive partnership with Singapore Virtual Airlines, we’ve been able to re-create past destinations through the use of the McDonnell Douglas MD-11 and Douglas DC-10-30, as well as the Infinite Flight Livery B757-200 in lieu of the missing Boeing 707-320B.

Moving through the eras, the rapid expansion brought on plans to launch non-stop flights to North, Central and South America, with business travel in mind, though the Asian Financial Crisis ended all opportunities before it could have materialised.

Fast forward to today, and Malaysia Airlines is really just a shadow of what it once was. That said, we aim to change that notion, to bring Malaysia Airlines to where it could have been, with the use of our flagship aircraft fleet, such as the Boeing 747-400, Boeing 777-200ER, Airbus A350-900 and the almighty Airbus A380-800.

Malaysia Airlines has had the luck to have been heavily featured in Infinite Flight, with various liveries from different eras of the airline featured, most of which being the flagship of the airline. Aircraft with Malaysia Airlines liveries include:

  • Boeing 737-800
  • Boeing 747-400
  • Boeing 777-200ER
  • Airbus A350-900
  • Airbus A380-800
  • McDonnell Douglas MD-11

Alongside this, Malaysia Airlines Virtual and Singapore Airlines Virtual has agreed to make use of the Boeing 757-200 with the Infinite Flight livery, in lieu of the missing Boeing 707 livery, to be used on routes operated by Malaysia-Singapore Airlines.

A big part of our organisation is built on community engagement, and events are the best way to do this.

Internal events are often hosted, featuring favourite destinations in our route database. From Borneo islands to the Swiss Alps, the Indian Subcontinent to the Amazon Rainforest, we have a wide selection of routes, as we aim to bring you on board our events, sometime in the near future.

We also aim to host events with partnering organisations, oftentimes, exploring the best that they have to offer. That said, for those who are interested in a more elaborate event system have it all to enjoy. As a member of the OneWorld Virtual Alliance, we aim to host joint events with various other OneWorld member organisations such as British Airways Virtual Airline, Finnair Virtual and Qantas Virtual Group.

As was mentioned above, OneWorld Virtual Alliance is comprised of:

  • Malaysia Airlines Virtual
  • Alaska Airlines Virtual
  • Finnair Virtual
  • British Airways Virtual Airline
  • Qantas Virtual Group
  • Qatar Airways Virtual

Joint events are often held between the hubs of each of the member airlines, and as we aim to bring the world closer, we also aim to grow the Virtual Airline scene on the Infinite Flight Community.

If it wasn’t for our partners, we would be nowhere near where we’re at. As such, we’d like to thank each of our partners for taking their time to negotiate routes, create events and host joint events.

Our destinations run far and wide, from regional destinations less than 20 minutes away by flight, to flights that are well over 20 hours away non-stop, we aim to give all pilots the option to fly to almost wherever they wish to, at any time.

And to give back to our pilots, we have a program for our most loyal pilots, having a direct say in the routes they wish to fly to, from any of hubs to any airport they wish to fly to.

Check out our route database, and do consider joining, if this is something that interests you.

Thsi new thread is Beautiful! it is very simple and informative about the new changes in the VA.
i just had 2 points to ask about:

  • Will the Gallery be Updated over time?
  • Why is there Tamil in the Welcome Salutation?

Hello there, thank you for the compliments, and I look forward you seeing your continued participation in the VA in the time to come. To answer your questions:

  1. The Gallery may be updated from time to time to feature some of our favourite pictures by our pilots; we look forward to featuring them.

  2. Malaysia has the third largest Indian population outside of India, with 85% of Malaysian Indians being Tamil speaking. We look to celebrate the multiculturalism through this VA and thought it’d be important to feature those who were heavily involved in the growth of our nation. Malaysian Indians were brought in under the British Colonial Era to help build and develop key infrastructures in Malaysia, not limited to railroad and building construction.

Do feel free to leave more questions, I’ll endeavour to answer them in as timely a manner as possible.

This is such a nice Thing to hear as an Indian. I hope this VA soars with Success

I look forward to seeing my photos up there soon enough ;)

As Malaysia Airlines Virtual enters 2022, it would be an appropriate time to reflect on the past 18 months of operations.

Today, I, the President of Malaysia Airlines Virtual, would like to exercise my powers in awarding the Wau Bulan Award to several distinguished members of Malaysia Airlines Virtual. These individuals have been a part of Malaysia Airlines Virtual from the beginning, and nothing short of instrumental to keeping this organisation running with elegance and professionalism.

We would like to honour these members with the Wau Bulan Award, the highest honour within the organisation, and with it, grant them honorary membership to MHVA for life. In no particular order, these members are:

Despite these members now stepping back from their roles within Malaysia Airlines Virtual, the roles they once played are instrumental in shaping the way that we operate today, and with that, it’s only appropriate that they are honoured in such a manner. It has been a pleasure working with all of you.
