Make “Legacy” aircraft free

While reading through comments on IFs new Instagram post about the B737max8 galley, I saw a lot of comments asking if it would be free. I know it’s not going to be along with other newly added/reworked aircraft, I mean the A380 WAS free until the rework but I was wondering,

Can they make OLDER aircraft free?

The Boeing 767-300, B717-200, Airbus A340-600 etc… are really old aircraft, no live cockpits, physics are outdated and the B763 even lacks a cockpit view entirely and the others I haven’t mentioned lack many features like one even doesn’t have cockpit stickers.

So I really think that these legacy aircraft should be free since they aren’t that high quality but of course when you rework them add them to the pro subscription.

Legacy aircraft have the world “legacy” on the right along with a warning in orange saying that it is outdated compared to the newer aircraft.

These aircraft specifically should be converted to free aircraft due to their poor quality

I think this is an interesting idea. I am into it, as how much money is being made from people paying 10$ a month for a 10 year old plane?

I wouldn’t say that we need to make aircraft free. What’s the point of having a 767? The regions are tiny anyway, and if someone wants to fly a heavy aircraft there is the 747.

I’m not particularly a fan of the idea because the free fleet is, on average, a bit older than the entire fleet (I did the math a while ago, if I recall correctly the difference was of a little over a year). While that might be cool, as it would add some extra aircraft at essentially no cost, as they’ve long broken even, it wouldn’t solve what I see as the main issue at the moment with the free fleet: many people say that the free version of Infinite Flight is meant to give people a taste of what Pro has to offer, but, if you take a look at the free fleet and the entire fleet, the best you have is the C172, and, in terms of airliners, the two best are the 737-700, with a great live cockpit, but no interior, and the CRJ-200, with arguably the best interior in Infinite Flight (along with the other CRJs), but lacking a live cockpit, plus having wacky physics because, well, it’s the CRJ after all. Instead, I’d rather see Infinite Flight taking an approach of less aircraft (7 or 8 istead of the current 14, soon to be 13), but with more quality (on average, as old as or slightly younger than the entire fleet).

Maybe some airports can’t handle 747s

I fly them quite often (especially the 767 and A340), but I’m well aware I’m the oddball in this regard.

Does it really matter when you only have Solo?

I’m aware of this

What if you want to be realistic or generally don’t like jumbos

Then you’d buy Pro? Not sure what’s the thing with “being realistic” with the few, small regions available for free when you could have the entire world, significantly more aircraft and liveries and generally great ATC on Expert. And, let’s be real, the people who prefer the 767 over the 747 are a minority (also, the 747 is the only free aircraft with gear tilt).

Minority and proud, but I see your point

The same argument can be made for every aircraft. Does this mean every aircraft should be free?

I posted the same thing about 2 years back for only the 767. And I highly disagree with the people who say that there are small regions for non-pro users (like me). There are many medium haul routes and to be honest the 747 isn’t a plane that you can use in non-pro due to the simple fact that not many airports are capable of having such a big aircraft. I voted

Imo i disagree, this will just give new players no taste of their actual aircraft, also having them only experience legacy aircraft wont be good for growing the game.

I don’t know man, current Legacy aircraft are too low in quality. No ground effect, no HD textures, wonky handling and no live cockpit, that would give new players a really bad experience, remember that first impressions are the most important now.

I’d much rather trade two Legacy aircraft by making them Pro only, and replace them with, let’s say, the E175, a really advanced aircraft in the fleet. This aircraft would also be only useful in California and Washington, so that would prompt new users into purchasing Pro.
