Mach Loop 16/10 - 18/10 2018

Here are some of my photos from the Mach Loop, Wales, UK.

16/10

Low cloud prevented any flying in the morning, so I went up at around 1400. I didn’t see much, but the wait paid off when two USAF F-15s and four USN F/A-18s turned up. F/A-18s are quite rare in the loop, these were on a short deployment at RAF Lakenheath.

Bad lighting didn’t help. My other photos from today weren’t that good.

17/10

Just the locals. (Hawk T.2s out of RAF Valley)

18/10

A quiet day at a different location (Bwlch, the other photos were taken from Cad West). I only saw a flight of two Hawks but only got a good photo of one of them. Another Hawk flew past after I started to walk down the hill. I almost missed it, but I managed to get my camera pointed in the right direction just in time.

I also took some photos of a C-130 Hercules today (19/10) but none were particularly good. I didn’t see anything else and I left at 1430. Fridays are usually quiet, especially afternoons.

They were in the Mach Loop in Wales.

Really cool shots, David! I would love to go there one day.

Do you have an external source or website where you post your photos?

Really nice shots here! I have seen some video of mach loops, and I would love to go take pics of them sometime. I love the third one, in which the aircraft has a bit of condensation off of the wings. 5*!

The third one is also one of my favourites. I also like photo number nine.

Here’s a video of the F-15s and F/A-18s.

Not my video, it was taken by Elwyn R from the opposite side of the valley from where i was. He just missed the first F/A-18 like i did. We werent expecting them to loop because they apparently weren’t cleared for low level but they did it anyway cos 'MURICA!
