Lufthansa A380-800 (2018) Bangkok to Munich

Yet another southeast Asian route with Lufthansa. Currently, Bangkok is the only destination in the Far East that sees the A380, and even that’s only on a seasonal basis, with the type being used during the Northern Winter season. In 5 day, the flight between the Black Pearl of the East and Bavaria will switch over to the A350-900, which is quickly becoming the backbone of Lufthansa’s long-haul flights from its second-largest hub.

Pushback begins while we settle into our seat. Lufthansa’s A380 first class is middle-of-the-pack, as far as A380s go. Certainly, it’s no flying palace like Emirates and Singapore Airlines’s are, but it’s not bad by any stretch. Unfortunately, the general trend to replacing first class with better business class products means that the seats are shoeing their age, and there’s no guarantee they’ll be brought up to standard following the upcoming refit, if they remain first class seats at all.
