I’m flying a United 757-200 from KDEN-KPDX, and I look over at my phone, the aircraft I’m flying is in a nose down condition nothing, was responding to my phone’s input, I’d like to know how this happened and if this happened to someone else I’d like to know their story.
I’m assuming that the AP was on and you were taking a break? Was the phone turned over or nudged in any way which the screen could’ve been touched faced down?
Hi, can you share some screen shots of hud view showing before and after or share a replay?:
There are a number of possible reasons something like this could occur. The most helpful info, of course, is a visual representation.
no I lost full control
I’ll try to get one
Thank you for uploading the images. But I think what we need to see is your HUD, or otherwise, displayed flight numbers going into your loss of control.
Your cockpit view is pretty spectacular I have to say, but I can’t make out any of the instrument numbers.
Ideally, we would be able to see what happened to your flight parameters (airspeed, pitch, wind change, angle of attack, any combination of relevant numbers really) that aid in painting a picture of the cause of your loss of control.
The view doesn’t matter so much as the numbers and the timing of those numbers.
What were your autopilot settings ALT, VS, Speed mainly. If you were on a step climb, sometimes you may loose speed if your VS is too high, causing a loss in speed, it can cause your AP “nose-diving” towards the ground due to your aircraft stalling. Also check the max altitude your aircraft can handle (The 757-200 has a maximum of FL420)
ATL 33,000, .84 Mach, no vnav, only Lnav on, and the auto pilot was off derringer the crash
Looking at your images, where all looked stable (from your 3rd image which is 22 seconds before your 1st image), I can’t see anything that stands out.
But the fact you say “nothing was responding” it seems, is presumably relevant.
Have you ever had this problem before or since?
No, have not this was the first and only time this has happened
Ok, thank you.
The only other thing I’d ideally like to see, is if a video replay might show a sudden pitch up or other reason for an increase in the angle of attack (sudden and significant increase in pitch angle compared to the passing relative wind).
Other than that, I’ll leave it a bit to see if any support staff or anyone else has any ideas. (any 3rd party apps in use?..etc.).
If it continues to appear to not be a recurring issue, then that is a positive at least.
Okay, also I have another thread going it would be great if you could help out on that too.
