Looking for ways to fly

Hi. I have a question. I would one day like to become a pilot and fly for a airline but I am to young to get my license. I was wondering if there was some affordable ways to fly. I live in Colorado and I am between 10-15 years old. This community has been very helpful with my questions so far and I hope you can answer this one. Thanks :)

P.S. If you need any other info about stuff like what planes do I want to fly. I will be happy to answer.

Since you are too young to get your licences, I guess you could try going up for a scenic round trip flight or something.

Thanks for the advice. I have had a previous flight lesson and was looking for other programs besides my local flight school for youth aviation. But thanks for the response. :)

You can start training for your PPL (private pilot licence) at any age, solo at 16, and obtain the licence at 17. I suggest saving up for lessons, take them when you can afford them. Brainstorm ways you can get yourself some flight time. Another way is to network and make connections. I knew a kid who’s grandfather was a CFI.

Edit: looks like you know all of this already.

Do you live in a big city, small town, etc…? That could help us in finding options for you.

As I’m doing now is playing a lot of Flight sim X and watching videos on youtube. It helps a lot. Bit you can always go further. Keep yourself always positive and don’t give up💪🏽✌🏼️

A great way to fly for an airline is to start with flying for the military. Fixed wing normally require a 4 year degree (us Air Force/ Navy.) while rotors for the US army are warrant officers which is 2 year degree. You can earn pilot in control time quickly that way and then transfer for the civilian side. I am looking to do this myself. I have a friend who is now Air Force reserve and a pilot for American (a320). He was able to get the job with his military experience. And they will pay for school and flight training for you.

While true, if I’m correct it’s a 8 year commitment with the military.

9 years actually. 48 month contract to get the requirement to be an officer, 60 month as a pilot.

Great question. I started flying at your age by doing discovery flights that are relatively affordable, you can really get the grasp of aviation. If you are 14 years or older, you can solo gliders. I fly gliders along with powered aircraft,( Cessna 208 grand caravan and Pilatus PC12 NG) and gliders is a very affordable and fun way to fly.
I hope this helps.

Do you have a PC12NG and a C208 type rating?

Look into the Aspen Flying Club (aspenflyingclub.com) . They have a small membership fee and the classes occur couple times a month. They are quite friendly. I fly with them quite a bit.

Short and simple:
Flight Lessons

Get your hours, go every few weeks, wait until you’re old enough, and get your license.

Sweet man. How much did the PC12 rating cost you if I dare ask? I am thinking about eventually getting one when I’m done with CPL course. I know they are some good career opportunities in corporate companies operating the PC12.

The pc 12 is a amazing aircraft. I luckily did not pay for the type rating training, the company I am flying for did but I believe it costs around 10,000$ to 20,000$ but I might be wrong.I did my type training at Pan am training in Miami, good flight school. @Axel_B
