Longest Delta Flight! - @KATL - 172130ZDEC19

Hello everyone! Welcome to tonight’s group flight. Today I have chosen a quite significant route, as it is actually Delta’s longest flight, Atlanta to Johannesburg. It also matches with the IFATC schedule so if you are looking for a long haul into Africa I can assure you that this is the one;)

So, about the flight! Delta usually uses a 777-200LR to fly this route, but unfortunately, the aircraft which was going to be used went into maintenance due to an engine not being able to start up. Therefore, an A350 is needed to fill in the gap!

You posted that this flight is at 2130z. However, that is not within three hours of posting, as the rules of the #live:groupflights states.

Love the idea, too bad I’ll be at school!

FLIGHT BRIEF

Hello pilots! Welcome to KATL:) Today as shown above we will be flying the GAIRY 2 departure. This is very simple and does not include any speed or altitude restrictions which affect us. However, we will be step climbing on this 15:10 minute flight down to Johannesburg in beautiful South Africa. The step climb is as follows:

  • initial climb is up to FL330
*at waypoint LFANO climb to FL350
  • at waypoint ENUGO climb to FL370
  • at waypoint 04S005W climb to FL390
  • at waypoint IMGAG climb to FL410 - which will be the cruise alt for the remainder of the flight.

After this, we will be flying the AVAGO1C into FAOR. Then we will be joining the ILS Z down into runway 03R. Tomorrow IFATC will be present, so our STAR is subject to change, so prepare for a deviation:

cruise speed : mach .085

92,967 is with an extra hour. You don’t need any more

cool :0…
