Long Haul Flights Over Night On Ipad Pro

Hi! I just got my iPad pro this Christmas, and had a question about doing over night long hauls. Is it safe to leave it on over night plugged in? Does anyone know?

Completely safe! Feel free to refer to this thread for detailed tech specs and experiences with the app:

I believe it’s safe but after a while the battery will go coz of all the charging. That’s what happened to mine. With the battery it just means if you use it while you don’t charge it will go down fast.

The newer devices actually have a system called ā€œtrickle chargeā€ to prevent over-charging.

Ok, thanks! Just was wondering if it would destroy the battery and burn my house down🤣🤣. Should I place my iPad by a cool draft by a window just incase?

I’m not too sure that’s necessary. I keep my iPad Air 4 on my desk and it’s battery health has been doing great.

iPad Pros are more powerful than some PCs, you should be fine

Ok, thanks.

I know it can be reassuring to hear from others who use the same device, so as someone who uses an iPad Pro and has done numerous overnight long hauls, your device will be just fine. I usually turn all the graphical settings to low as well.

I’ve got an old iPad from 2016 and have been using it on overnight flights for a couple of years now. Not noticed any battery deterioration more than normal either! I’d make sure you have low power mode for long haul flights switched on tho :)

One thing I do with my phone is that I drain the battery a bit before doing an overnight by just using it for things. That way I’ll end up with about 10-15% when I plug in before going to sleep. I also turn fast charging off which helps as the battery then ends up taking most of the night to charge back to 100% and should help the battery to not continuously recharge for as long and preserve battery health.

I’m currently using Air 4 and I don’t charge it when I go for a short distance.

So if I disable fast charging, and let my iPad go down to 10 to 15% and depart at 9 wake up at 8 am and still be flying then it will be charged?

Also, what if I just let it drain ton 50% and hen I have fast chartering enabled and graphics on high, will that still work? And not burn my house down? šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Never have to worry

I recommend taking off the charger and flying

I recommend putting the device on a flat hard surface such as wood. I personally use this one here.
