Please how do I do a localizer approach
I was approaching kSAN yesterday runway 27 and went for the localizer approach the final course was 275 degree and Mda was 680 on gettting to the runway I was not aligned even still being on the right course I didn’t use appr I used just lnav tuned into the localizer frequency after capturing it please how’s this localizer approach flown thanks

Basically, set your Nav 1 to the runway you want to approach. (Do this, by clicking on the Airport you intend to land at, then below click on “RWY” and select your Runway by clicking “Set Nav1”. Later, when on approach go to the autopilot panel and press “Approach". You do have to have altitude and vertical speed activated. But, once your are established (which the Autopilot does automatically) the autopilot will guide you down, and even land if low visibility is current.
So I’ve to use appr even on localizer only approach ?

This might help you figure it out.
Bro this is for a precision approach
If you are trying to fly an LNAV only approach, pressing the APPR button won’t work since it will still follow the glideslope. The exception to this would be if you found an airport that has only a localizer approach and no ILS to the same runway, but I don’t know any off of the top of my head.
If you have correctly tuned the ILS to NAV1 and select NAV1 as your source, selecting LNAV will follow it. The most likely reason you are off course is because the sensitivity for LNAV and APPR are different. This basically means using LNAV allows the autopilot to have more lateral error. Have you ever been in cruise with a large crosswind and noticed you are following your course, but the autopilot is not keeping you perfectly centered with it? This is because you have lower sensitivity (less accuracy) using LNAV mode. If you use APPR mode, the accuracy will increase, so you are always perfectly aligned with the course.
All of this to say, this is a limitation of Infinite Flight itself. If you want to fly a localizer approach using the LNAV button you can, but you will not have as much sensitivity. Therefore any crosswind you have will blow you off course and you will have to manually correct.

As far as I’m aware, there is no “Localizer Capture” option in the Game. So, either hand flying or approach mode are the choices, I believe.

So handflying the approach is the best ?
Since there’s no way a localizer approach can be done

You can use the LNAV function with NAV1 selected as your source. Just be aware, if you have a crosswind the autopilot will not correct you as well as it does during APPR mode. So technically the only way to be perfectly on center would be to hand fly, yes.
If approach mode is not available, I always hand fly it, yes.
Personally, while I always use the localizer and glideslope when available, I have never used the APPR mode, but will always hand fly it in. I haven’t flown in whiteout conditions before, but if I did I would probably still hand fly it, just because APPR mode in IF can be very tricky to initiate and terminate
I think I figured this out in solo mode tho without winds I used APPR till I got to MDA using Vs to decend to the MDA when I got there I disengaged autopilot and did the rest manually is this correct? tho with no winds with winds idk if it will be of course

No one still has explained how a localizer approach is done on infinite flight ?
To fly a localizer approach all you need to do it tune the ILS to nav one, switch your nav SOURCE to NAV 1, and then engage LNAV. Then you need to use V/S to descent manually.
The issue with this, which I went into greater detail in a post above, is the sensitivity for LNAV is not as accurate as APPR mode, so you may be slightly off course when a crosswind is present.

Ok thanks so I guess gps approach (rnav) is best
It is slightly better since you can use VNAV, but both are essentially flown the same.
