Localizer and LNAV NAV1

How can i make localizer only approach so that i descent manually and runway centerline is maintained by autopilot.

i tried in EGLL 27L(Winds 21KNTs) by engaging APPR first so that aircraft could be on localizer course then i switched to LNAV NAV1 of Runway 27L at around 1500ft but as localizer would have kept in centerline in 21knts wind also but LNAV NAV1 deviated from centerline even though i engaged LNAV NAV1 when aircraft was stabilized on APPR.
even tried with winds around 7KNTs , still same happened
why is that so?

is it not possible to use only Localizer as given appr?

keep appr mode enabled to stay on the centerline and glideslope, dont switch back to lnav on final (you can always fly runway heading after appr is stabilized and descend manually that way)

Yeah, But Disengaging APPR and Keeping Heading(Runway Heading) on Autopilot Also lets it drift form centerline in case of high winds.
So i guess there is not a way to just keep localizer ON or maybe.

What About in real life
Is it possible only turn Localizer ON?

I think it is possible if you select NAV1 as your input instead of GPS. That way the autopilot will maintain the centerline while you can descent on your own. As long as you have selected the freq for the ILS

thats exactly what i had done. i used LNAV NAV1 after aligning with the centerline but still it deviated the aircraft in case of high winds (otherwise its fine , can use runway heading also when wind is calm).

And otherwise you can always land manually. That is also a lot of fun during winds.
