Has anyone noticed that if you use Appr and the Localiser Dimond is missing it’s supposed to be on the altatude for the glide slope I’ve noticed it on the challenger and the a380 is this a bug or something that was removed in the update?
Can you please provide screenshots?
Hey!
Could you provide some screenshots and possibly some locations in which you experienced this issue? Thanks.
So, you presumably mean in cockpit view, the challenger has the localizer diamond appearing on the attitude indicator but the A380 doesn’t? I think I see what you mean. I couldn’t find a good image (after a short search) of an irl A380 clearly showing what it should look like. I wouldn’t have noticed if you hadn’t mentioned it.
What exactly do you mean? This is what a CL35 and an A380 on APPR mode look like in IF:
It looks to me it’s simply due to the cockpit design philosophy, with the A380’s dating back to the A320’s 1980s design, when screens were small CRTs, meaning the less parts of it were constantly on, the better, while the CL35 has a much newer, big-LCD/LED-screen-centered design, allowing for a much bigger artificial horizon, as parts permanently turned on are far less of a concern.
The diamond is not gone. You have the localizer set right? If so, your altitude is not at that the localizer alt is at, you can see an arrow at the bottom of where it would be, that marks to descend (only if you are meaning to catch the glide slope upon landing).
Yeah it’s the glide slope Dimond I’m not seeing because I can see it on the hud but not on the panel
That’s because the HUD is different from the PFD. The HUD is IF software and they decided that they will keep the diamond there on the bottom until it needs to move, unlike the PFD that instead puts an arrow to decrease confusion.
The Diamond is still there, just replaced by the arrow you see on the PFD
I’ve noticed this on different aircraft like the challenger a380 and 350 and now the 777 I have a theory that’s got something to do with after you go back on your flight
As I’ve said before, it’s not that, it’s the fact that the plane alt and the LOC alt are very different, and it may be that you just don’t realize it before.
Still, the age-old idea that the diamonds represent vertical and horizontal deviation from the G/S and LOC remain the same between these two - so perhaps the artificial horizon itself wasn’t what the OP was referring to.
Everything looks completely fine here - the only reason why the G/S diamond is gone and the arrow is present at the bottom, is that you are currently flying significantly above the ILS glideslope and that in order to capture it, you need to descend.
You still seem quite far out from the airport at this point though, so it’s more than likely that the prescribed altitudes on the arrival and approach procedure will place you on track to intercept the G/S, likely from below, by the time you get within 4-7nm of the runway.
It’s actually frozen like that I even checked the hud for a reference to see if I’m above or below the G/S or it will tell me I’m at the correct altitude to catch the G/S and I look at the cockpit screen it dose not indicate if I’m blow above or if I’m at the correct altitude the airport I was flying into is O.R Tambo airport in Johannesburg I was at 10,500 on approach and the airport altitude in game is at 5,000
