Livery Request Confirmations

Presently, we at Infinite Flight will confirm top requested liveries in the Features category by closing the topic, labeling the topic with the confirmed tag, and announcing it’s confirmation on the topic. Due to frustrations regarding livery release order and the methods in which liveries are created by 3D artists, we will be implementing changes to the process.

New Livery Selection Process

Once selected, a confirmed livery will be added to our internal development list without topic closure, tag, or public announcement. Confirmation of the livery will come in the form of a mid-cycle WIP post or release day discovery.

Though internal confirmation date will be considered, liveries may not always be released in the order in which they were developed and/or confirmed. Release liveries are purposefully chosen to provide a diverse selection or pair with an anticipated 3D airport.

Change Reasons

  • 3D artists often work on all requested liveries for a single aircraft type to prevent context switching between several variants. This is not always in the order that liveries are internally confirmed
  • A requested livery’s complexity or lack of reference photos may result in it taking longer than others
  • Community frustration regarding livery release order

Important Notes

  • All livery requests must follow procedures outlined in category guidelines
  • There is no minimum vote threshold for an aircraft to enter development pipeline
  • Infinite Flight will periodically add staff livery selections to promote new 3D airport, aviation partnerships, or boost fleet diversity

Thank you for your continued engagement. We love to celebrate our community’s enthusiasm and diversity through our livery selection!

This is a nice change , as it gives a bit excitement!

Nice change!
Why are 2 people voting for this though … It’s an announcement not a request

Make sure to vote for your own request!

No, just a few people being silly and I appreciate the commitment. 😆

Thanks just had to clear it up before this had more votes than the neo family lol 😂

Nice Implementations. I am really hopeful to see Pakistan International Airlines 777-300ER in the near future.
Only 2 Aircraft liveries remain for Pakistan International Airline : 777-300ER & 777-200ER.

@Tyler_Shelton I have a recommendation. Whenever a Livery gets Confirmed, why not credit back all the votes so the Livery doesn’t clutter the top requested feature. This would do 2 things.

  1. Make easier for user to view the “up next” or u can say most to least voted.
  2. I believe many user think that keeping your vote on a confirmed livery would make it come faster or be pushed back.

Just a Humble recommendation or you can say opinion :)

Thanks for the feedback! It’ll definitely be taken into consideration. The initial change several years ago was done for this exact reason… to return votes. Once closed it’s the same as confirming and for many the timer begins and a livery is expected in the next cycle. We’ll explore other ways to meet in the middle!

Interesting change. Hopefully the new JetBlue spotlight livery comes soon, but we shall wait and see 🤞

Lovely, now it’s all about surprises now

Can’t wait to see my face once I see “JetBlue Blue Yorker A320”

Maybe if before liveries are confirmed, there is a checklist to ensure that livery delays for reasons like lack of reference image, texture issues and other things wont happen to this livery, THEN it can be confirmed. Because having a livery confirmed and have people still vote for it should have been “Wasted votes”

But i dont really know how liveries work at IF, so i could be wrong.

Sorry I don’t understand why not confirming the feature and closing the topic only when the livery is done & ready.

This way you could avoid the “timer” issue.

And what do you mean by “confirmed”?
Added to the pipeline (devs point of view) or coming in the next release (user point of view)?

Thanks for clarifying!

The first one.

We don’t always release liveries when they’re done and ready. We purposefully select a lineup from our completed liveries that considers things like:

  • date added to the pipeline
  • 3D airport pairing
  • airframe diversity
  • global representation (not all US liveries, etc)
  • upcoming official events/partnerships

Closing a topic, whether we explicitly state it is confirmed or not, is a confirmation in the community’s eyes. We are going back to the original way of doing things, outlined above, to simply confirm a feature once shared publicly, whether as a WIP or actual release.

Still asking by myself what happened to this one…

The A319 is not on the dev list at all. I know we released the Air Serbia A320 in 24.2. I’ll track down to see if it was marked by mistake or if we purposefully converted it to the A320. Thanks for surfacing that again!

EDIT: Likely due to this if I recall correctly

Correct information, they do plan to phase out the A319s as it is no longer a viable aircraft for their plans and they plan to get E195s, and A320s. So because of this the A319 livery is now no longer confirmed for development? Thanks😁

Correct. It seems we have the most accurate representation and I’d rather additional resources be used to make an e-jet in the future vs an outgoing A319.
