List of Abbreviations and Their Meaning

This is a list of (common) aviation abbreviations you might come across in IF or in the community.
I started creating it and @Mats_Edvin_Aaro made a huge contribution.
I’ve put the abbreviations in alphabetical order.

Actually this is Meteorological Terminal Aviation Routine Weather Report, but you can also shorten it to Meteorological Aerodrome Report.

ATPL = Airline Transport Pilot License
CPL = Commercial Pilot License
CAA = Civil Aviation Authority
ETD = Estimated Time of Departure
GMT = Greenwich Mean Time (same as Zulu and UTC)
BTW = By the way
FYI = For your Information
FYG = For your guidance
NEOBIG = Not East of but including Greece
WSNP = Weather and Safe Navigation Permitting, (used in conjunction with ETA or ETD)
SWMBO = She Who Must be Obeyed (ok more for one of us of a certain age with ‘her indoors’.)
