Are there ever any light aircraft group flights?

Yessir, there are GA events, but there are also events at smaller airports that allow for GA group flights. You can also create an event with them, such as a flight from a small GA airport to another not too far away. Since IF is mostly filled with larger planes as well as pilots who fly them, finding a group of people to fly GA planes with can be a bit challenging. If you’re looking for group flights, I honestly suggest GAF as a VO, since we do a lot of formation flying, and you can fly fighters or heavies. The Cessna 208 and the TBM 930 are also available as airframes to fly on.
However, your best bet is to look for or create events as well as find people via discord to fly with! I hope this helps! 
Also, there is a fly out tomorrow from Idaho that features a lot of GA aircraft, I suggest you give it a look because you could totally join!
