Ellinikon International Airport (IATA: ATH, ICAO: LGAT), sometimes spelled Hellinikon, was an international airport that served Athens, Greece, for 63 years. Following its closure on 28 March 2001, it was replaced by the new Athens International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos. The airport was located 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) south of Athens, and just west of Glyfada. It was named after the village of Elliniko, now a suburb of Athens. The airport had an official capacity of 11 million passengers per year, but served 13.5 million passengers during its last year of operations. A large portion of the site was converted into a stadium and sports facilities for the 2004 Olympic Games.

As you said, this is no longer an operational airport. Infinite flight does not have any retired airports in game, and the ones they do are exceptions due to large historical importance or demand, such as Kai tak.

Nothing happened. I mean it’s proximity to the city, strange approaches, and steep climb out procedures remind me a bit of Chicago meigs.
Oh, I see. Yeah, I meant that we remember Meigs and have it in the sim because of its historical presence. Remember Meigs was the battle cry for anyone trying to save a “drowning” airport that a city would want to close

I’d assume either 1) because if it’s proximity to a major airport, or 2) an editor just wanted it.
Yeah, maybe someday. It would cause a lot of airspace issues for controllers I’d think though. And also, LaGuardia sinks every time there’s a storm lol.

Just so you know, and sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but IF currently does not have the ability to add any new airports at the moment. I’m sure many people would appreciate the airports being made, as there are old, historical, and brand new ones not in the sim. However, it just isn’t a possibility at the moment. I understand where you are coming from, and if you would like to bring this back up when they have the ability to add airports again, you would be able to make a good case. But for now, it just isn’t possible
