Excessive speed is usually given with no warning.

Level 3 violations are given by ATC, not by the system.
If you were in a fighter jet, there is no overspeed warning but there are still “rules” about appropriate speed in ATC airspace.
You were going 400kts at KBOS under 10K
That would explain it then. You shouldn’t exceed 300-350kts below 10,000ft in controlled airspace.

It’s common sense. Don’t go stupid speeds close to the airport, especially with other aircraft in proximity.
You had an aircraft 5NM ahead of you. You would’ve closed that gap within a minute or so.
