Level 1 Violation Expiry — What Does the IF Community Think?

Hello fellow aviation fanatics!

I think most of us know what it feels like to receive a Level 1 violation at some point — whether it’s for overspeeding in the air, taxi speed, or another unintentional mistake. In many cases, these violations happen while someone is still learning, improving, or simply makes an honest error.

That made me wonder:

Should Level 1 violations remain permanently visible on a pilot’s profile, or should there be some kind of expiration system?

Personally, I feel there’s value in giving pilots the opportunity to “earn back” a clean public record through long-term good behavior and consistent flying. Having something to work toward could actually motivate people to pay closer attention to procedures and improve over time.

Staff could still retain access to the full history if needed, but perhaps older Level 1 violations could eventually stop being publicly visible after a certain amount of time without further issues.

Whether that’s after 1 year, 3 years, or even 5 years, I think it could encourage pilots to strive for improvement instead of feeling like one early mistake stays attached to their profile forever.

I’m genuinely curious what the IF community thinks about this idea. Do you think an expiration system would be fair, or should violations remain permanent?

Out of my 100 violations, I would estimate that around 85 originated between 2014 and 2018, when I was repeatedly routed through the wrong airspace with an undersized aircraft. So overall, I would support that.

Personally, I could not care less about my Level 1 violations. They are automated, not a judgment call by anyone. Mistakes happen, the system issues a violation, and that is that. I feel no shame in it at all. But then again, this is my personal opinion. Others could agree it would be a neat idea.

i started playing like a week ago i sometimes space out or forget the speed and when i try to fix it its generally too late its mainly after descending lower than 10000 and its hard to slow down if not predicted before also tried to land on the fields for fun ended up getting 3 lvl 1 violations for that because seems like the greenery is all a ‘‘taxiway’’ i literally cant have grade 3 for this reason right now i have to wait a whole week
