Hi guys, I just found out that LATAM is sending a flight to send Argentinians back home from Sydney.
What do you think about this? And also anyone know why they aren’t taking them to NZAA and SCEL which is their normal route LATAM usually flies to and from YSSY.
Given the current situation it’s normal for abnormal routes to be seen across the world. These are repatriation flights organised in conjunction with local governments to bring citizens or cargo home.
Aha I see, but it’s pretty long though. I wish Aerolinas continued the route for more convenience and also LATAM because they are able to fly that length anyway
Probably not feasible. BA for example sent the B77W to Amritsar Airport and Ahmedabad to repatriate citizens. I believe there are three flights in total for each airport. BA don’t fly there usually nor do such large aircraft tend to be used for the India routes but none the less, it was needed for repatriation duties. Interesting to see all over the industry, lots of odd routes.
There have been some very long hauls for repatriation, including (but not limited to):
-Vienna to Sydney (Austrian 772)
-Melbourne to Tel Aviv (El Al 789)
-Christchurch/Auckland to Frankfurt via Bangkok/Vancouver (Lufthansa 747/A380 and Air New Zealand 77W)
-Montevideo to Melbourne (HiFly A343)
What HiFly and Tel aviv went to Melbourne!, Austrian went to Sydney! I did not expect that. They should start flying to these destinations. @GlobalFlyer1
