Last flight of the CSA

Tonight, on the 26th October 2024, the 101 year old Czech airline CSA is making its last flight, from Paris to Prague. The airline has problems with finances since the fall of the CSSR in 1989. today, it only operates 2 a320s. It’s one of the top 5 oldest airlines in the world and its first flight was from Prague to Paris in 1923.

It will eventually be taken over by smart wings. It will lose its OK callsign, but the aircrafts and livery remain for a few years.
On the 1st January 2025, CSA will no longer be in the ICAO airline database.

I flew this exact route on CSA last December… Still remember enjoying the article in their inflight magazine about the life journey of one of the pilots. Flying to PRG will be different now…

I tracked this while at a chess meet today lol. So sad to see this airline go. 😞

Smartwings is actually planning on preserving 2 A320s in the CSA Livery as well as 4 A220s that they will be leasing excepted to be delivered in December!
