Did you ever have a flight where you did not expect to land with low fuel ?
This happened to me once flying from KJFK to VABB on the B77W as Air India 116 .I flew way to fast ( Mach 089 ) and too low ( FL330) . I landed in Mumbai with 2%fuel 😅 .
I would love to know if you have ever encountered similar experiences !
I did RKSI - KSFO and it took almost 10 hours. I loaded only 75% of fuel before take off. I thought it was enough for fly over pacific ocean. And I ended up crashed on final. My b77w’s two engines stopped at 300ft so i wasted 10 hours :(
I wanted to do a flight from Hilo to Lihue, wanted it to be fully loaded. Unfortunately, the winds in Hawaii changed quickly and I was faced with headwinds. I didn’t bother using a flight planning app as it was a short flight. Just barely landed.
I don’t think I’ve ever had that happened to me, Bcus I always fly with more than enough fuel, in case I need to divert/go around for some odd reason, like when Sāo Paulo was really congested I diverted to Rio de janero
I once saw someone run out of fuel on final at palms de Mallorca airport then crashed into the terminal was the most heartbreaking thing I’ve ever witnessed but kinda funny too
I was flying from KLGA to KLAX on the American Airlines 757 I didn’t know that I had less fuel for the flight so I started to climb to FL360 and then for some reason I had 2 hours of flight time with the amount of fuel I had so I had no choice but to divert to Dallas Fort Worth and then on to KLAX where I finally made it at midnight.
I didn’t tell you : visibility was so low I got really scared about messing everything up 😓 ! I hesitated to use AutoLand but I can’t really use it properly so I just used LNAV to guide me into the runway and I managed the Altitude by myself . Probably one of the most intense flights of my career .
