Continental 3407 was a scheduled passenger flight from Newark, New Jersey, to Buffalo, New York, which crashed on February 12, 2009. The aircraft, a Bombardier Dash-8 Q400, entered an aerodynamic stall from which it did not recover and crashed into a house in Clarence Center, New York at 10:17 p.m. EST (03:17 UTC), killing all 49 passengers and crew on board, as well as one person inside the house

Ahhh! Wished I could come but I can’t…
Sounds like a nice event though :)

The crash was a result of bad piloting. Instead of pushing the nose down to recover from the stall, the captain pushed it up which made it do a barrel roll and crash. It was not operated by United Express, but rather by a smaller company (Colgan). The United colors were on the aircraft but It it had a colgon flight crew. This is the reason why on every airline ticket that is for a flight not operated by that airline, it has “Operated by [Insert partner airline].” United usually partners with Mesa Airlines for UA Express nowadays.

Not true. UA Express operators include Air Wisconsin, Cape Air, CommutAir, ExpressJet, GoJet, Mesa, Republic, SkyWest, and TransStates.

Mesa just hold a small portion of UA Express routes, only operating out of IAH and IAD for them.

A sad day for my hometown. I remember it well. A nice tribute to pay respects to those who lost their lives and loved ones that night. Hats off to you @Oli_H
