Labor Day Spotting @ KCLT

Hey guys

Well hello again! I’m back with my first spotting topic since I got back from Japan. I spent about 2.5hrs at the wonderful overlook in front of RWY 36/18C in CLT. I have a love/hate relationship for my home airport on terms of spotting; you get great aircraft movement (especially in noon), but you get crappy variety. Well… I got both of that today. It started off slow with just CRJs and a few A320 fam planes departing 36C. I just chilled out and checked out the later flights and it was looking pretty good. So… about an hour later I got to the good stuff. Rushhour came and there was a lot of aircraft lined up for 36C. We had A330s, LCCs, B738/A320fam, and CRJs at the same time. Oh, and a AA 752 which isn’t a common sight like it used to be. Caught a bunch of great shots that I have right below!

Today’s equipment

  • Cannon Rebel T6i
  • Cannon 75-300mm lens

Great pictures! I liked it how you listed the aircraft, how old it is, and the route. By the way I followed your Instagram 😉.

Great pictures here. What date did you spot on again?

Amazing photos. I love the way the clouds look in those photos they are so realistic.

Can’t wait to see more from you!

Great pics!

True with DFW.

Also true with DFW.

We have 10 or so more airlines, but American has 900 flights out of the airport per day, a larger hub, and most other airlines have only one daily flight to DFW.

Awesome pictures! My favorite has to be the JetBlue one!

90? sheesh, sounds like heat haze central but I guess it didn’t affect you too much because these look pretty dang good.

Yup I was surprised that not many had heat haze although some good ones had it. Lot better than I expected

Another KCLT spotting topic, yes! Now there’s a fun way to spend Labor Day. Love the 737-800 and the 717-200, those are just awesome. The 757 is also cool.

By the way I saw a 767 departing CLT today, never seen that before, weird.

Great photos! I’m in love with the 757 photo!

I was there that day CLT does have a love hate thing with spotters and lighting and runway usage. If you had been there Sunday though you could have gotten an a340.
