This is my first time posting in the Screenshots and Videos category in a long time, so I thought, what better way than to share one of my favorite routes I’ve ever operated? I’ve flown this route so many times, and it’s always great. I love flying the C-17 (which desperately needs a rework), and Travis Air Force Base is a huge hub for them. This was a real flight operated on December 11, 2023. The call sign was DEED178 Heavy. Today’s mission was to fly to Burbank, pick up the Marine presidential helicopters, and transport them to Quantico.
Route: KSUU - KBUR
Time: 53 Minutes
Arriving at the crack of dawn, we boarded the aircraft around 5:40 AM for our first flight of the day to Burbank.
After completing all our checklists, we began taxiing to runway 3R
Airspeed alive. 80 knots. V1… Rotate.
Climbing out from runway 3R as we pass Rio Vista to the south and climb above 10,000 for FL330.
Safely leveled off at FL330, with Chowchilla beneath us. We will have a flight level change to FL310 around the Coalinga area before beginning our descent.
We complete our approach briefing and begin our descent to runway 15 at KBUR as the sun peeks out behind the mountains.
We request 15 and get cleared for the visual approach and landing. ATC instructs us to exit the runway at Bravo 3.
After exiting runway 15, we taxi via Bravo 3 to Million Air FBO and shut down engines four and three. As we park at Million Air, the sun is just starting to come up, and the loading process begins.
