KPDX Renovation is just 1 year away from being done

Hello IFC!

If you don’t know KPDX it Portland International Airport in Portland Oregon. It is the biggest airport in the state of Oregon and serves 5 different countries including England, The Netherlands, Mexico, Canada, and Iceland with Germany and Japan coming soon. It is a hub for Alaska Airlines and is served by 18 different passenger Airlines. Until 2022 PDX was voted the best airport for over 8 years in a row! Indianapolis was voted the best airport which took PDX spot. But I have a feeling after this renovation PDX will be back on top.

This is what PDX will look like when the renovation is complete. They are putting new hardwood in the airport, but don’t worry they are keeping the famous PDX carpet in high traffic areas. PDX is projected to be done in late spring of 2024. They recently renovated the A terminal and B terminal and PDX which hold Alaska Horizon flights. I also think that they are updating the Immigration process because they way they have it now is terrible. You have to get through Immigration then you have to wait in line to get on a bus which takes you to the main terminal. This process takes forever when you have big jets coming in all at once.

I may be able to check some of this out as early as spring next year, when I’d actually be inside the airport!

I think Tampa was voted the best airport in the USA.

The article you linked is dated to 2022. Ryan had mentioned “until 2022” in the main post.

Also varies on where one looks, there’s no singular airport rating poll

Maybe but PDX was number 1 and is going to be back there soon

From my knowledge it’s always been TPA.

Your Probably right but PDX will be back

Correct, as a PDX native myself I got to learn a bit more from the late Tim Smith (PDX Operations Supervisor, rest in peace) and the ranking they used was Travel and Leisure Magazine.

I may be a little biased, but when your airport’s carpet has it’s own Wikipedia page it’s kind of hard not to
