A little over a month ago from the time of making this Features, Korean Air unveiled a new, simplified livery on one of their Boeing 787-10s that features their updated branding. Not too long after, a Boeing 777-300er was seen with the new livery and just recently, a Boeing 747-8i.
The Boeing 747-8i is the last version of the passenger 747s with only Air China, Lufthansa, and Korean Air operating the type. With this new livery, a little bit more variety can be added to the fading giant, The Queen of The Skies.
If you would like to see The Queen of The Skies get new colors for what may be the last time, please vote for it!
However, I really do like this livery. I’m a simp for simplicity and this livery is the best one I’ve seen on the 747-8i. It’s the new KLM but better
i don’t mind the new livery i honestly probably prefer this livery over both KLM and Lufthansa’s Liveries they all have followed the same simplistic designs and not much colour variation.
My initial impressions for the new livery were pretty bad. Over time, I’ve come to like the new livery on the 787 and 777. I don’t like this on the 747 for one reason.
The 777 and especially the 787 are very sleek, minimalist planes. That means that a minimalist livery such as the new Korean Air livery suit them well. However, the 747 is NOT sleek or minimalist. It is a brute, a gargantuan feat of engineering. Such complexity does not deserve a simple livery. It’s like putting a black turtleneck on a bodybuilder. Those don’t compliment one another, and neither does this livery and the 747.
