The other day, I decided I am going to fly an IF world tour, starting and ending in KBUR!
My Goals:
-explore all 7 continents… yes, 7!
-be as realistic as possible (down to the gates used, real-world flight plans, etc.)
-hop each major ocean with the shortest possible flight time.
weirdly, I haven’t planned every leg of my route yet, so join me in winging it (no pun intended) around the globe! all legs will be posted in the comments.
PHOTOS
after every leg I will choose 10 to 15 photos and add them to the comment when i finish the leg, and I will add a poll for YOU to select your favorite! When I finish this journey, I will take all of the highest voted photos and have you guys vote for the winner! And I’m traveling all across the world and thought it would be interesting to see where you all thought was the coolest!
Flight: Southwest 3380 Route: KBUR-KHOU Aircraft: Boeing 737-700 Livery: Southwest - Canyon Blue Flight Time: 2:49 METAR: KHOU 202253Z 16018G28KT 10SM SCT032 BKN065 26/19 A2994 RMK AO2 PK WND 16028/2251 SLP145 T02560194 Realism info: This flight was operated by southwest but southwest has been really weird with this schedule. KBUR-KHOU operates from JUN-SEP, and KHOU-KBUR permanently ended earlier this april. I found the last KHOU-KBUR flight and used those gates and livery
They do a bit of charters for cruises. Could fly a BBJ out of Ushuaia or Cape Town or really anywhere. I know someone who chartered some Bae plane to an island there.
Flight: Frontier 42 Route: KHOU-MMUN Aircraft: Airbus A320-200 Livery: Frontier - Hugh the Manatee Flight Time: 1:43 METAR: MMUN 210240Z 08008KT 7SM FEW015 26/22 A3004 RMK SLP174 52013 951 8/500 Realism info: This flight is operated by southwest and frontier, but southwest was my carrier on my first leg so I chose frontier. IRL frontier begins service on this route May 26, 2022 with an A320 neo, so I chose the closest livery to match the neo and used the gates of prior frontier service.
Flight: Avianca Costa Rica 651 Route: MMUN-MROC Aircraft: Airbus A320-200 Livery: Avianca Flight Time: 1:45 METAR: MROC 212218Z VRB05KT 3000 RA BR SCT015 OVC030 21/19 A3006 NOSIG Realism info: This flight is operated by many airlines, but I found my most realistic option would be this Avianca A320. This flight is technically operated by Avianca Costa Rica, but they have the same livery as Avianca. Though Avianca usually uses an A319, i found it acceptable to use and A320 as an A320 was used on 4-16-22. I could have used a Volaris A319, but the flight is operated by Volaris Costa Rica which has a slightly different livery.
Flight: Volaris Costa Rica 4102 Route: MROC-SKBO Aircraft: Airbus A319-100 Livery: Volaris Flight Time: 1:49 METAR: SKBO 231200Z VRB02KT 9999 VCSH BKN015 SCT070 12/11 Q1026 NOSIG RMK VCSH/N A3032 Realism info: This flight IRL is operated by Avianca A320 and a Volaris Costa Rica A319. i’d like to not reuse liveries, so i opted for the Volaris plane. unfortunately volaris costa rica’s livery has slightly different text, but that’s fine. I used the same gate I flew into for San Jose and a real gate with Volaris at Bogota as volaris begins this route in may
Flight: SKY Airline 5557 Route: SKBO-SPJC Aircraft: Airbus A320-200 Livery: SKY Airline Flight Time: 2:24 METAR: SKBO 231800Z 32010KT 9999 VCSH SCT020TCU 20/13 Q1024 NOSIG RMK TCU VCSH/NE A3025 Realism info: This flight is operated by SKY Airline Peru (same livery as SKY Airline) but IF doesnt have SKY Airline Peru’s callsign so i used SKY Airline’s callsign (aerosky). I used the same gate i arrived into lima with and a real SKY Airline gate (route doesn’t start until june)
Flight: LATAM 486 Route: SCEL-SACO Aircraft: A320-200 Livery: LATAM Flight Time: METAR:SCEL 240200Z 16009KT 9999 BKN170 17/08 Q1014 NOSIG Realism info: Couldn’t find gate at SCEL, but I did find the Espigon. Found the gate at SACO though. Aircraft and callsign are correct
