Kahului Spotting! (First on IFC) PHOG/OGG

hey all!

Yesterday I was able to do a little spotting here in Kahului. I was going to post the topic last night but time changes meant it was midnight and well on past for all of you.

So here it is now. Let’s dive into it.

First off today is a Hawaiian 717 coming from one of the islands

Next is a SWA 737 coming from HNL

Third today is a AA 772 about to land after the long trek from DFW

4th now is a mokulele c208 coming from one of the smaller island airports

A tale of twin tails

Another Hawaiian 717 coming from HNL

Haze ruined this shot but here’s a green mokulele c208 coming from another island

Now we have an Alaska 737 from Seattle

Finally today is a UA 767 from Denver.

Well that’s it! First time here at OGG and the locations are great!

I missed my chance of spotting at PHOG. Too bad I became a photographer into when the pandemic started. Awesome shots, Maui’s backdrop goes so well well the HA 717’s!

Thank you! I’m hoping maybe to try and go in the morning to get the north mountain as a backdrop

absolutely no pun intended

I was amazed the 772 was allowed to fly such a long flight out of a short runway!! Great photos, as always.

Yeah!

A 789 is scheduled to come tomorrow 👀

That runway is just too short 😂

It’s 7,000 feet so idk

You know how heavy 789s eat up runway
I think there’s a weight restriction

A 772 is recommended to have at least 8,000ft and OGG is 7,000 feet

I’m actually about to fly on UA 348 B789 to Chicago from Kahului so you might see me if you are still in the area!
