Hi everyone!
I’m happy to share that I’ve just submitted my application to join IFATC!
I’ve completed over 500 ATC operations on the Training Server, studied the ATC Manual thoroughly, and practiced a lot. Now waiting for the review and next steps — excited to move forward!
Any tips from current IFATC controllers for the theory exam? Would love your advice!

Tip for the theoretical exam: Use a Pen and paper to visualize each question. Take your time and think thoroughly.

My biggest tips before any exam is to keep looking through the IFATC Manual and reading it over again. If you’ve read it once already, read it again in your spare time. Always, and I repeat always have a Pen and Paper ready with you at all times. If you’re stuck on a really hard question, you can try and draw small sketches on your piece of paper. I found this really helpful on some occasions, depending on the type of question I had.
Finally, good luck in your exam! I hope you pass.

Read questions thoroughly and take your time before answering well if you read manual carefully then don’t worry you will pass theory easily

Hello @tyarr, congratulations on submitting your application.
I am an IFATC Controller, and at first, I, as well, was unsure how the written test worked exactly, but after doing some research, I found a Discord server which trains all future controllers and helps them understand both the written and practical steps by step They will guide you through all you need to know. During my training, they really helped me a lot; without them, I wouldn’t have made it.

You can also do the practice test for training ive been doing this for the past 2 weeks since i (hardly) flopped the written test

The best advice I can suggest is Practice those Mock tests as much as you can. Good Luck

Hey congrats on you first step towards becoming an IFATC controller!
I suggest the following:
- Read the manual a couple of times, and check if you understand it
- Watch the perfect ATC test on YouTube with the manual on the side to see how it is implemented during controlling : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h6vvTq2yxuk
- Ask around for guidance where needed, ATCMH has amazing mentees to help you throughout the progress: ATC Mentorship Hub

Congratulations! مبروك I wish you a smooth journey until you become an IFATC member.
A few tips along the way, make sure you read the User Guide very carefully. It will be extremely important throughout your training and especially for the written test.
I also highly recommend joining the ATC Mentor Hub and attending the training sessions there. They will help you a lot, as you’ll be able to learn from other controllers’ mistakes and gain a better understanding of how things should be handled.
The User Guide is extremely important, so make sure you’re familiar with it.

for tips i would recommend reviewing atc manual again and again even if you think you got the basics this helps with little details that you will need to confirm on your answers and breeze through the written test!

Here’s my personal favorite tips to become a member of IFATC.
- I recommend you read the ATC Manual | 1.1 Overview it wil help you though out the recruitment process
- Watch the The perfect ATC test it will help you understand some of the essential practical parts
- My final recommendation is to Join ATCMH there able to help you with mentorship sessions and mock practicals as well as helping you with your written test.
