I just got Grade 3 and I am not really confident with my skills overall. I would like to know things I should know before I fly in expert servers or into busy airspace. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!
Well before you enter make sure you have gone thorugh mannual and all part of it .
follow ATC instructions , you must be aware of ATC intrucstions meaning, like for approach
- how to intercept localizer
- what is ILS,GPS,VIS appr
For local - differentiation between LU&W and hold short
- following sequecing if issued by tower.
- What to do in give way instruction
- When to change frequency.
and all other instruction too.
- make sure you are not rushing while taxing , having paitence while fly in or out of HUB , no freq spamming
Thank you! I was not familiar with the manual until now, I have read it throughly.
Welcome to the community! As @Shreyash_Chauhan said read the manual and follow realism please. It hurts to say the amount of times ive seen someone take off from a runway not in use or takeoff directly into traffic. Good luck and have fun!
Slowly but surely, I’m having beef with this word…
The best thing to do is to follow everything ATC says ! Whatever instructions, they give to you, try to follow it as best as you can. IFATC members are trained and tested very well to provide an excellent service to pilots in Expert Server. If you still get a violation and think that you didnt deserve it, you can always appeal the violation. Happy flying !
Hello and welcome @1Ender !
I’d recommend reach through this post:
It’s very long, but trust me, it will save you from a forced vacation from ES.
Ahem, rust isn’t good when it comes to aviation. Jk typo tho
Also the topic he put there will definitely help, if you have any other questions, you can contact me.
Yeah lol I noticed that
Hey! Glad you made it to the Expert Server! I have some tips for landing, let’s use KLAX as an example.
-
- Make sure to tune into the ILS frequency.
-
- Make sure that you can see the PFD and see the alignment with the localizer. (Only when flying realistically/without HUD)
-
- Don’t make unnecessary Comms calls like “xxx on final runway 27L, trust me ATC sees you.
-
- Trim out your aircraft to have it so the rectangle (preferably green) on the trim bar go to zero, as it would do automatically irl (auto-trim) to make landing easier.
-
- Make sure not to flare too much, which risks a tail strike and/or floating. Also don’t be afraid to kinda slam the landing, as the aircraft is most likely built to handle it fine. And you don’t have actual passengers anyways.
-
- To turn off the runway and taxing in general, you must be <10 knots when turning 90 degrees, and around 20 for less than 50 degrees.
-
- Use SimBrief for landing calculations such as speed, flaps and auto brake settings.
-
- Also setting up every airframe will help with speeds, flaps, etc. as the planes in Infinite Flight aren’t the exact same as what SimBrief automatically sets.
-
- Always listen to ATC commands and never leave the device away when actively taking with ATC. All IFATC are some of the best, pretty much hand-picked my the actual best of the best. You can most definitely trust their decisions.
That is all, thank you for listening.
Absolutely agree with everything he said, but I do have a quick note for this one…
Airports featured in the IFATC schedule can often become unrealistically busy, busier than designed to/typically handles in real life. On that note, if there’s traffic (or even if there isn’t because it just makes it easier for controllers) behind you landing, or if there’s aircraft holding short, please expedite off the runway, it makes it so so sooo much less chaotic for controllers. You can take high-speed exits off much faster than stated above and then you can slam the brakes later (it’s not real life, you aren’t going to hurt the plane). Not to say the runway isn’t yours, but please try to help IFATC as much as we want to help y’all get to your destinations.
Welcome to the expert server! Please go through the manual clearly so you don’t get any violations unknowingly. I have been on Expert from a Long time and mistakes do occur. So one day i was taking off from abu dhabi (no atc) with proper call on the radio but just after taking off i saw a aircraft coming from ahead which was pretty far but still i climbed more to maintain seperation but after some time, i think before even crossing that plane from above i got a violation. I tried appeals but they said they inbound aircraft had already called for landing but i didn’t know that maybe i was not tuned into the frequency.yeah this is a silly mistake but can happen witha anyone also that was my First and last level 3 violation. So yeah with more experience on the server you’ll surely get more confident and very less chance of mistakes.
Thank you, will try to use simbrief for routes and etc.
Tip of the day: avoid daily hubs if you are still unsure of basic ATC instructions
