Not quite sure which section to post this in but here we go!
Hellooo everyone! I’ve taken a bit of time off, and here I am returning. A couple of days ago, I went to Latvia with some friends from my local aviation group. We visited a bit of Latvia, including Jurmala Airport, the airBaltic Training Center and finally did some spotting in Riga.
Jurmala Airport
Must be the most colorful airport I’ve ever been to.
The inside of this airport has a lot of different colors, and thats what made this airport stand out from others.
We then got exclusive access to the apron and went to the abandoned IL-62M registered UP-I6209
Here’s the cockpit of the plane
And here’s me.
airBaltic Training Center
It was a great experience being there. We saw everything from the A220 simulators to the briefing rooms.
Unfortunately this is the only picture I have from here, me (on the left) in the A220 simulator. However, I did spend my money and bought some goddies. Here they are.
- We have the airBaltic A220 1/100 scale model with the Lithuanian flag livery. Set me back 45 euros (it costs 25 euros cheaper in person than in their shop (69.90 euros)).
- PA Keyring, set me back 7 euros, has the DO NOT REMOVE sign on the other side.
- airBaltic Training notebook set me back 3.5 euros, love it.
Riga Airport Spotting
Finally, we went spotting on the other side of the airport. Here are some spots.
Lufthansa A320 to Frankfurt.
And an Uzbekistan Airways A320neo to Tashkent.
That would conclude my 1 night trip to Latvia! Of course, if photographing was allowed in the Siauliai NATO airbase, there would be a second topic with everything from there. I saw some Eurofighter Typhoons, even managed to see 2 taking off (very loud). Saw the cockpit of one as well (51-08 Italian Air Force).
Hope you enjoyed this little exploration topic of mine, and will see you next time!
