The Junkers Ju 88G was the dedidcated night fighter version of the famous Ju 88. It carried an FuG 220 “Lichtenstein” nose radar and was powered by two BMW 801 engines (the same used on the Fw 190) rated at 1600hp each. The gondola that was characteristic to the early versions of the aircraft was replaced with a container for two cannons under the fuselage.
714628 is (or was) exhibited in the Technikmuseum Speyer in Berlin, Germany. It is painted on the common Luftwaffe nightfighter of RLM 76 light blue with RLM 75 grey violet squiggles.
