This idyllic island just a stone’s throw from the coast of Massachusetts is renowned for its pristine beaches, rich history, and storybook Cape Cod towns. You can find many of the rich and famous roaming the island, including the Obamas, the Clintons, Jimmy Buffet, Larry David, Oprah, and Steven Spielberg, among others. Martha’s Vineyard is the third largest island on the East Coast, beating out its arguably more famous neighbor to the west, Nantucket. Nature lovers will appreciate the island’s many hiking and biking trails, wildlife sanctuaries, and windswept beaches. There’s no shortage of fresh seafood, and you’ll often see fishing boats bobbing in the waves of Menemsha Harbor.

Martha’s Vineyard Airport (MVY/KMVY) is the third busiest in the state of Massachusetts, with Boston and Nantucket in the lead. During the off season (late fall-early Spring), the airport sees only a few Cape Air Cessnas a day, flying to Hyannis, Boston, and New Bedford. During the Summer, however, the airport springs to life. Seven airlines serve destinations across the Eastern Seaboard and as far away as Chicago and Charlotte. Dozens of daily departures bring in tens of thousands of tourists, making it vital to the island’s economy.
During the Summer, you’ll also see no shortage of private aircraft at MVY, shuttling the wealthy on and off of the island. In fact, the demand for private jets is so huge the FBO is actually larger than the terminal building.
