Why New York and Wamos?
The city that will be the focus of this event is one of the most famous in the world and is synonymous with work. Not surprisingly, it will be one of the first long-haul routes to be operated by GOL. The real-life company is acquiring its first widebody aircraft, the A339 Neo. However, until the aircraft officially begin operations, Wamos Air’s A332s will temporarily operate the route (yes, in real life. For those who don’t know, Wamos Air is a wet lease and charter company and is a sister company of GOL, as it is part of the ABRA group – the main air transport group in Latin America).
The reasons for this event are also intertwined with the 2026 FIFA World Cup, whose final is scheduled to take place on July 19th in New Jersey. Therefore, New York John F. Kennedy Airport will be the main airport for those traveling to the stage of the final of the most beloved sport in humanity, or those who want to get as close as possible to it.
Another reason is that GOL’s strategy is to transform Rio de Janeiro - Galeão Tom Jobim Intl into its main hub. Therefore, its long-haul routes tend to depart from this city, which is also one of the most famous in the world, especially when talking about or thinking about Brazil.
Embark on this new journey with GOL Intelligent Virtual Airlines!
Smiles Travel Tour
A project created by GOL Intelligent Virtual Airlines to promote traffic at the airports served by the company, including airports served through realistic codeshares, inspired by the Smiles frequent flyer program. The tour takes place on VA’s internal server and is an edition promoted at IFC - Let’s enjoy it together!

The event will operate in Fly-in mode - Select an origin and fly to New York JFK. Arrivals must occur within a 24-hour window on Saturday, July 18th.
This proposal highlights the Rio - NY route with the A332 Wamos Air, however, the choice of origin is free for those who will be flying.
