  • When I requested transition, I got no response.
    • The transition altitude is 2500 AAL (Above Aerodrome Level) rounded to the nearest 500ft.
    • When an aircraft requests this, they are saying “I want to fly across your airspace”. You are then responding back by the altitude at which they should do this.
    • Imagine you had aircraft doing patterns at 1500ft AAL. 2500ft gives us 1000ft of vertical separation between the pattern work aircraft and the transitioning aircraft.
  • Good pattern entry when I announced inbound.
  • Whenever an aircraft has changed runway or is inbound, you should give a traffic direction. This tells them whether they should turn left or right after they’ve done their option. After this, traffic directions for subsequent clearances are not required as you can assume they will do this for subsequent patterns.
  • Try to get sequences/clearances out of the way as soon as possible. This prevents you from forgetting but also supports situational awareness for all.

Thanks @Js1998
