John F. Kennedy Airport has been around for decades and many parts of it are in need of an update. Thankfully The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey have agreed and are spending over nine-billion dollars on an expansion of terminals 1 and 4. I have received many questions about how this will affect Infinite Flight and my answer is I will try my best to keep JFK updated to the standards I have available to me. With that said, in the next version of JFK, after years of service, terminal 2 will be closing. As the imagery updates, Terminal 4 will be expanded and the regional area of terminal 8 will be demolished. My goal is to keep this beloved airport in line with IRL standards providing you all with the most realistic experience possible. If there are any updates I will be sure to share them and I look forward to seeing the future of JFK!
Terminal 1 is in NEED of a revamp in real life. Been there many times. Cant wait to see how it looks like once its finished, and also thanks for the editing of 3d airports! 🫡
I dont think hes doing anything right now with the airport because in real life the expansion just recently started I think, so hw woukd probably have to wait until construction in real life is finished then he can put it in infinite flight
As of right now, I am closing down Terminal 2. After that, I will mark off the construction sites that are currently being built on and remove the regional gates from terminal 8. As said above, the actual new parts will be added as they are completed in real life and imagery is available. But for right now, these are the only advances I can make.
These changes aren’t too big so if they do not come in 23.2 they will most likely come in 23.3 There will be multiple versions that will come out as more progress is made IRL
Can’t wait! Obviously this relies on the imagery being available, always a fun time waiting for that to become available.
As someone who flies out of JFK a lot, here’s pretty much all the IRL changes that are different from JFK in IF based on what I’ve seen since I’ve been there for anyone interested in what’s changed:
Terminal 2 is now closed and has a wall around it as it gets ready to be demolished (as of at least a few weeks ago, maybe they started the demolition already)
The A gate expansion at T4 is opened. This adds a few new regional gates. The expansion also moved the parking position for gate A6 slightly
Some jet bridges and parking positions were changed at the end of the B gates at T4 where Delta’s regional flights use to be. Since the regionals moved to the new A gates, these gates are now mainly mainline planes so some gates were changed to support the larger aircraft.
Cape Air flights at T5 seemed to move to gate 5 from gate 29 so there’s probably new parking spots painted to support their small planes.
T8 has a bunch of changes: The addition of the 2 brand new gates (18 and 20), the gate 31 regional gates are replaced with 1 widebody gate now that can support up to a 77W, gate 32 regional gates are gone and replaced with 1 narrowbody gate, gate 34 was changed to a widebody gate that supports a 772 (parking position slightly changed), and gates 44 and 46 have new parking positions, with gate 46 now being a widebody gate supporting up to a 772 (these changes were mainly done when British moved to T8 so AA can have enough widebody gates)
So yea, lot’s of small changes here and there and excited to see them implemented as imagery rolls out! Thanks for all the work on my favorite airport :)
Is this the new massive terminal one complex in construction that is supposed to rebuild terminal one and takes over the areas previously occupied by terminals two and three
This is the first step. Terminal 2 has been boarded off and will soon be torn down. Once it is out of the way terminal 1 will be expanded. This project is spread out over the coming decade
Wait, what is it going to be connected to terminal five or something? What’s the master plan because I’m pretty sure terminal 8 is the only one that staying in its current state. All the other terminals are either being added onto demolished or renovated
