JetBlue Announces New Long Island Service

JetBlue recently announced that they will start service from Islip Airport, aka Long Island MacArthur Airport, or for us pilots, KISP, starting on October 24th, they will fly once weekly to Orlando (MCO), 4 times weekly to West Palm Beach (PBI), and starting October 25th, a 4 times weekly service to Fort Lauderdale (FLL). Currently, Southwest, Breeze, and Frontier are the only airlines thar serve Islip. MacArthur airport (Islip) is about an hour drive to JFK, which can be inconvenient for many long islanders. Adding a beloved airline to a location with lots of customers is a great choice in my opinion. Though I live within 10 minutes to jfk, I have relatives who live closer to ISP airport, which would add a lot of convenience to their travel.

Also, I’d like to point out this new feature to Fly Macarthurs home page, where it displays the airlines :)

According to said website, these are the airports current destinations: “ Current non-stop destinations include Baltimore/Washington, Atlanta, Charleston, Fort Lauderdale, Myrtle Beach, Fort Myers, Norfolk, Orlando, Palm Beach, Raleigh-Durham, Richmond, Tampa, Vero Beach, and Portland, Maine. ” Though JetBlues routes already exist at the airport, it will add competition to the other airlines currently serving this airport, as well as more time options to fly to these places. Not only that, but Jetblue’s outstanding service, cabin, amenities, and more will definitely be well-enjoyed.

Thanks all!

Hopefully they increase Islip service from Tampa. Jetblue scuttled LaGuardia this year so this will be a great low-cost alternative once they’ve tested the waters with Orlando and Fort Lauderdale.

Yeah, I agree! I flew out of Tampa to LaGuardia last summer.

Did y’all know that Delta, Allegiant, Continental, Penair, and Spirit all historically operated out of Islip? I knew about Sprit and Allegiant but delta and continental genuinely surprised me… though I asked my parents if they knew about it, and in fact they once flew continental out of Islip to connect somewhere with Hawaiian (before Hawaiian flew to jfk) to fly to Honolulu their 1st anniversary!

the jetblue and frontier beef is real lol
