Jet2 737-300's?

Hi everyone hope you are all doing well.
I was just wondering why Jet2 still uses 737-300’s.
If anyone has any insight into this it would be great to know.

They have 9 in service. 8 737-300’s and one 737-300Q for passenger or cargo transportation.

They are cheap to run. Seeing as though Jet2 is a budget airline, it would be cheaper for them to just carry on using them instead of upgrading. However they are slowly acquiring more 737-800’s.

I knew they had some on service and wondered why they didn’t use newer aircraft

Yeah. They’re quite common due to their efficiency, and there is a large presence of them in Canada due to the fact that Canada has a lot of gravel runways and only the -200 and -300 can be fitted with a gravel blast pack.

Thanks I think I saw a video about them being used in Canada

Jet2 have just received a large number of brand new 737-800s to their fleet I believe the final one was delivered at the end of 2018.

I’m not sure I’m right here…

But I’m pretty sure Jet2 own them, no lease costs means lower OpEx even with less efficient running costs and they worked on this model to expand…
