GAF kicked off 2026 with back-to-back high-intensity operations and precision training, showcasing the skill, coordination, and global reach of our forces.
NATO Tiger Meet – The year began with our first annual NATO Tiger Meet. Our newly formed air-to-ground squadrons took the spotlight: NAAF’s 345th FW A-10s, EAF’s 31 Sqn F-16s, and Staffel 11’s F-18s. Pilots pushed their skills in realistic combat scenarios, eliminating enemy air defenses and striking multiple high-value targets under pressure. This event set the tone for the months ahead.
Forward Air Control Training – Building on that momentum, select pilots began training to become FAC instructors, introducing innovative in-game methods for identifying and marking targets. This new capability ensures precise coordination for both air-to-ground strikes and allied joint operations.
Naval Wing Syria Operations – While other squadrons sharpened their combat skills in training, NAAF’s Naval Wing continued real operations in Syria, performing counter-insurgency missions from RAF Akrotiri. Their work maintained security and provided vital support in the ongoing conflict.
Swiss Low-Level Race – Inter-squadron competition kept pilots on their toes: Switzerland’s FlSt18 F-18 squadron raced through the Alps, testing speed, agility, and terrain navigation. Flt Lt “Vapour” Grengo emerged victorious, proving the precision and skill that define GAF pilots.
Oman Flyover –Muscat Airshow – February culminated with our high-profile flyover in Oman for the Muscat Airshow. Multiple squadrons executed a coordinated formation across the Muscat skyline, demonstrating not just piloting skill but a flawless demonstration of GAF’s capabilities.
From high-speed Alpine races to international flyovers, GAF has started the year stronger, faster, and more precise than ever.
