Jackson Hole to Washington Dulles; United Airlines 737-724

Hello there!
As you may recall, abouta month ago a started a mini series to commemorate the restart of United’s IAD-JAC-IAD service which starts on December 20th, 2025 with this flight! Two weeks ago, I finally got to doing the return flight; later than I had hoped to do it, but college required my attention over Infinite flight.
This return flight was quite special because we got to do a runway 1 departure which takes us north into Grand Teton National Park before taking us east towards the Boysen Reservoir VOR on the DIVYD2 departure – no matter what side of the aircraft your one for this departure, your guarenteed some of the best views in the United States!

Each winter, Saturday’s are Jackson’s buisiest day with about 30 flights arriving across 4 carriers, with 15 arriving between 11am and 3pm. This winter, that number has a chance to rise to 5 carriers if JetBlue commits to starting service then or next summer!

After enjoying a week of early season skiing, it’s back to Denver for the last two weeks of school before christmas break, of course with a quick stop over in D.C so we can take this innagural flight! Despite the terminal being packed with about 900 people departing and some 700 arriving, we got through TSA quite quick because of TSA Pre! Here is the lovely (but old) 737-700 that will take us east after its innagural flight from Dulles! This bird, originally delivered to Continental has been cruising the skies since 1998!

After some lunch at Jeddidiah’s, a quick boarding process and a short delay at the de-ice pad (we were 4th in line out of 10 aircraft), it was back down to runway 1 for takeoff!! Due to the very short runway (only 6,298 ft), the 737-700 is regularly seen using ALL of the runway. Today we rotated with about 650 ft to spare, and it was a very very low and slow climb to FL390.

Turning east over Shadow Mountain
For anyone coming to Jackson, in late summer, Shadow Mountain is the best place in the valley to pick huckleberries!

Heading over Rapid city as the first snack service is concluding.

Over the shores of Lake Michigan between Chicago and Milwaukee!

Beginning our descent just west of Pennsylvania’s capital, Harrisburg.

Short final for 19C!

Safely parked at the gate, just down the concourse from the B777-200 that’ll take us to Denver! As we exited 19C, Dulles’ ARFF gave us a lovely water canon salute to celebrate the start of this flight!
