Howdy Howdy IFC π
Hereβs some context - I was home from collage for christmas between 12-10 and 01-20, roughly 5 and a half weeks. Besides spending time with family and friends, skiing my heart out like a psycho Actually did my first 180 whilst being home π, and lots of bison schenanagans, I worked full time at my airport as a host for my 9th season to pay for the spring semester at school! The job description has lots of funky loopholes so I just decribe it as being the information people of the airport while simultaneously doing every other job from baggage handling to custodial π ! It was a crap show to say the least, with more delays, cancellations and diversions than Iβd of liked, butβ¦ but, I photographed like crazy and Iβm excited to share a small collection of what I took! πΈπ¦¬
The 100% absolute truth of the location of my beloved Bison
Equipment: Google Pixel 7 pro
Airline/s: Various
Aircraft/s: Various
Location: Jackson Hole Airport KJAC
Starting off in perfect @United403 fashion is this United A320-232 (N476UA) which flew into Jackson on Dec 19th as UA2002 from Denver! I had the 5am shift this morning and the sunrise was absolutely magical with the RON lineup - I will share a photo in the comments at some point if I remember to π
Next up is this mid-day lineup on Dec 30th consisting of a United 737-724 from Houston, United A319-131 from Denver, United E175LR from Los Angeles, and my personal favoriteβ¦ an ex-NWA Delta B757-251 from the worlds busiest airport @Mort Summon! Behind me in that photo were 2 American A319-131βs from Dallas and Chicago Respectively as well as 2 more United 737-724βs from Newark and Chicago respectively. 8 planesβ¦ oh how I love the hub and spoke model π« !
Now if it was summer, ORD, EWR, ATL, IAH, DFW, LAX and DEN would all be RONβs but oh no; route scheduling loves doing this to ski towns π«¨
Enough with the ranting about how much I hate hub and spoke. Lets skip foward now to January 2nd - a mid lighted American A319-131 doing the rare but impressive exit at A2 for a very short taxi to stand 4! It was operating as AA1915 from chicago, and left about 70 minutes later as AA2257 to Dallas!
This wouldnβt be a true Jackson Hole post without some private jet action! This here NetJets Cessna Citation Latitude was heading to the De-Ice pad via Alpha, Bravo 1 and Bravo before it eventually went to Corpus Christi! π€
Im spacing on the city it arrived from, but here is another United 737-251. United lovessssss sending them to Jackson even though they are a pain in the behind from an operational stand point. It is apparently so that starting either this coming summer or the 25β-26β winter season, those god awful 737βs will be replaced by Unitedβs new A321Neoβs to ORD, IAH, and EWR π
The first of 3 Delta flights that come to Jackson every day on the A319-131 from SLC @PhorzaSky ! Delta also flies this type seasonally from El Ciudad de @Mort!
Alaska (Skywest) 3314 pushing back from stand 7 for Seattle! Alaska has gone back and forth using the E175 and B737-700 to Seattle and San Fransisco since coming to Jackson in 2022. The San Diego flight how ever has always been on the E175! It is rumored that we will have a Boise flight by decades end also on the EJet - I hope this is soon a reality π
American Eagle (Skywest) CRJ7 taxiing to runway 19 for Los Angeles! This winter is the first season since 2022 that all 3 U.S legacy carriers have had an LAX flight and somehow for reasons beyond my comprehension, all 3 airlines have had sustainable load factor which immanently means weβll have the same situation come summer.
United airlines corporate if you ever see this, for all that is good in this universe make a retro battleship grey livery im begging you ππππππππππππππ
Okβ¦ so, for as long as this retro livery has existed, United has sent it to Jackon every single winter atleast once without fault along side the star alliance 737-700! It was a real treat to see this fly in my last shift! π
Another Delta 757 because why da heck not π
This was taken on Dec 26 amongst a massive set of storms we had the week of christmas that dumped a total of 55 inches (roughly 140 cm) in the mountains and about half that in the valley. The Atlanta flight that day was delayed arriving into Atlanta from detroit, and the Jackson flight diverted to SLC before finally coming up to Jackson in the late afternoon and departing for Atlanta around 8:30 the next morning because of the crew timing out.
