Italy's new airline to replace troubled Alitalia in October

Also quick question to anyone who knows the answer: what’s happening to Alitalia cityliner, have they already had their last flight or are they going to ita

Cityliner flew with Embraers and ITA has announced they will not take over those planes.

So what’s happening to them, have they already stopped flying or are they going to go solo

Not sure if anyone’s seen this, but…

ITA will be keeping all Alitalia branding!

Goodbye Alitalia…

What does this mean? Will the livery stay? Or is the name just under ITA?

Likely little to nothing will actually change other then now ITA doesn’t have any of the old airline’s debt

Well and the fleet composition I guess but that won’t happen overnight

Tomorrow I believe

Alitalia is still here. New company, same name. This is actually not the first time it happens…

From 1946 to 2009, it was known as Alitalia - Linee Aeree Italiane S.p.A.

From 2009 to 2015, it was known as Alitalia - Compagnia Aerea Italiana S.p.A.

From 2015 to today, it was known as Alitalia - Società Aerea Italiana S.p.A.

Starting tomorrow, it will likely be known as Alitalia - Italia Trasporto Aereo S.p.A.

Such a weird time now, seeing the AZ code for a flight number but under a different airline. Will be interesting to see what the future holds, that’s for sure!
