Israel & UAE Sign Peace Agreement Paving The Way For Direct Flights

When these flights exist they’ll most likely do a similar flight path to other flights including Mumbai and Bangkok. They’ll fly down through the Gulf of Aqaba, down the Red Sea, across the Gulf of Aden, and the Gulf of Oman which leads to the Persian Gulf. If the Saudi Airspace wasn’t closed off than the flight would take around 2 hours.

Can the aircraft not fly north over Turkey and over Iran like Qatar Airways does for their airspace issues?

This is great! Both countries are finally getting along AND they recognized Israel as its own country.

Not sure, but it looks like EL AL takes the southern option for flights to Mumbai

Israel pretty much dosent get along with any countries in the Middle East aside from the UAE obviously. This means for safety purposes not to fly over their airspace.

Tel Aviv-based Israir Airlines has already begun applying for landing rights in the UAE, and cites Dubai as as a “very, very attractive destination” and is likely to be popular for Israelis.

Emirates’ Chief Operating Officer Adel Al Redha was asked about flights into Israel during questions related to the 787/777X:

  • On flights to Israel: “No question about it, airlines from both sides will want to examine the opportunity,”
  • Difficult to predict start dates and frequency

This is great news! I’m really hoping that the devolving relationship continues to grow for both the countries and airlines. 🙏
