Pushing back from Gate 1 at at ADZ, the airport serving the Colombian island paradise of San Andres, located 130 miles (207 kilometers) east of Nicaragua. Zorro Culpeo (Culpeo Fox) is the character adorning our ride's tail this afternoon. Just like Frontier, JetSmart has a unique animal on each tail across its fleet.

Rotating off Runway 24, with a full load of passengers for our 90 minute flight down to the Columbian mainland.

Dwindling sunlight as we cross into Panama, about 40 minutes into our flight. The seatbelt sign is off, and flight attendants are making their way down the aisle and passing out drinks and small bags of plantain chips.

Crossing the Darién Gap, which separates Panama from Colombia. It has a reputation for being one of the most inhospitable regions in the world, due to its rough terrain, extremely dense rainforest, and poor ground susceptible to sudden and extreme sinkholes.

Beginning our approach into Medellín. It’s getting a little bumpy over the mountains, so the seatbelt sign comes back on.

On downwind, with the City of Medellín in full view

Gear down & Flaps Full on final with a brisk crosswind

Fighting a 16 knot crosswind as we float over the touchdown zone, ending in a firm landing

Pulling off the runway and making our way to the terminal to let our passengers disembark.

Nice!

I’ve flown to ADZ 2 years ago on defunct Colombian ULCC Viva Air on their A320neo from Cali. I really enjoyed it I wish I could go back to San Andres

It looks absolutely beautiful. The history of how Colombia ended up with it is quite interesting, actually.
