Fun Fact:
Bydgoszcz shares the capital of Kujawsko-Pomorskie with Toruń, even though both cities’ absolutely despise each other
Welcome to Bydgoszcz, an airport that doesn’t serve many destinations since they have a BIG train hub, which serves destinations such as Przemyśl, Szklarska Poręba Górna, Toruń, Kraków - ok you see what I’m trying to say here, it’s the 8th biggest city in the country and has a fantastic island called the Polish Venice, it also has some fantastic statues hanging above the Brda river .
Hey guys! Welcome to Bydgoszcz in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie voivodeship, just took a picture of our E175 (rare occurrence as it’s replacing the E170 today) just coming in from Warsaw, which is where we’re going today!
In seat 7D this afternoon as the clock hits 3 PM we are ready to go. Our flight time is somewhere between 45 minutes to an hour and our cruising altitude is only 19000 feet. We’ll be flying over Torun and then over the city centre of Warsaw before arriving into Chopin Airport where our adventure continues!
Beautiful Sun as we are holding short for Runway 26, we are waiting for a very delayed CRJ9 from Frankfurt. Even though the weather is sunny, it’s about 15 degrees Celsius (59 F for anyone interested)
We’re off from Runway 26, and we depart east! Planespotters are non-existent but maybe someone caught us on the train service that runs right under the runway from Bydgoszcz to cities like Poznan or Berlin!
We reach cruise at 19000ft and receive some water and some bread with apples or blueberries (I took blueberries) , it’s called drożdżówka in Polish, we stay on cruise for only 8 minutes and then we begin our descent.
We can now see the capital of Poland, the only and only Warszawa! You can see the city center and the Praga region, both divided by the Wisła (Vistula) River!
We entered a little holding pattern near runway 33 but about 5 minutes later we slam onto the 15-33 runway with a LOT MAX waiting for departure to Tashkent in Uzbekistan!
We exit the runway and view another LOT 737 this time heading to the former Polish capital and the Wawel Castle - Kraków! Another big train hub too - yep, an I will now list bc I want to add more letters and show you guys some more cities
- such as Nowy Sącz , Gdynia , Giżycko and the snow capital of Poland - Zakopane!
We park up at one of the remote stands at the northern part of the airport and I snap a quick pic as I get yelled at by an employee (he was asking people if they were transferring to Lyon and Prague - I wasn’t) , we head to the airport and this is not the end of my journey yet
Overall, the flight was brilliant! LOT is a very underrated airline especially on their short-haul flights. The food is fantastic and the flight attendants were very kind! I highly recommend flying with LOT Polish Airlines (LOT Polskie Linie Lotnicze)
Goodnight!
