Just a few minutes ago i was on a flight session from jfk to egcc, i contacted london centre and he gave the following instructions, “qatari 368, hold position at 12000 feet, right turns, do not exceed 230 knots.”
I started descent and reduced speed while continuing what i filed, i was not sure what the right turn heading had to do since i thought he would give me an heading to turn right for so i continued, i didn’t get any further instructions from him and directly got a level 2 violation
Reason why i am asking here is i joined very recently so i am not really familiar with all atc instructions and so i wasn’t sure if this is something i can appeal or it was my fault, could someone assist me with this?
You are more than free to try to appeal your violation. Whether the appeal gets approved or not, or whether you are deemed at fault or not, I’m sure it will still be a learning experience, especially considering you are very new here, as you mentioned. See below
The approach controller could have been putting you in a hold for traffic and the amount of inbounds or because you mentioned you were high and descending to 12000 ft. So he may have been giving you a 360 hold to give you time to decent but as Jinco said I would recommend filing an appeal and reviewing the feedback from the appeals team and I am sure it will be a good learning experience as well! Best of luck mate and happy flying!!
