Is the weather data in the game updated in time?

For example, there are typhoons and bad weather in some areas, but the visibility is still very high, which is not in line with the common sense of real life.

The visibility is currently set based on the METARs of nearby airports. If say the typhoon is in the ocean, the low visibility probably won’t be reflected in-game,

e.g. right now Hurricane Bavi east of the Philippines is dozens of miles from land, so the low visibility won’t be being captured by the game’s weather system until it gets closer to airports on land, just the winds.

I find visibility to be very inaccurate. Low vis/fog appears and disappears suddenly and doesn’t seem to be reflective of real world conditions; it can be miserable and overcast in the real world and IF will have it sunny and bright.

Hopefully improvements to weather address this.

It will hopefully improve (at least to some degree) when we eventually get more (and hopefully volumetric) cloud layers.

Indeed, I also found this problem.

It was proposed to increase the weather system and change at least ten years ago.

Well the new rendering engine will hopefully allow for (at least make relatively a lot easier) better dynamic weather systems. We just have to be patient.

Sometimes it’s not that I’m impatient, but the developer doesn’t give a specific time or plan for the development of the weather system. If the specific time is given, I think most people will be patient or shut up. Ten years can’t be blamed for people for being impatient.

Because things and plans in game development are always changing. Public deadlines then get pushed back, then the community gets annoyed (we’ve had rather dramatic examples of this). It’s honestly best kept private.

Well, I just think that at present, developers will develop new aircraft or rework old aircraft for a long time. For other functions, I think it will take a long time to get them, so this is also the reason why people lose patience.

The new from scratch aircraft/reworks are being made by an external artist team. There will be different people in charge of all the rendering-related stuff (lighting, weather, etc.)

Then it’s better like this.

But I remember a time, maybe a year ago, where foggy weather was occurring more frequently.
I remember several landings in heavy fog and it was quite realistic even without dynamic clouds.

Unfortunately then other people (who probably cannot land in low visibility) complained a lot about too much fog and now I barely see any fog at all anymore.

I definitely enjoyed the challenges and higher need being focused while doing pure instrumental landings.
